Commentary on Cheetos
by Ricardo González

"Latinos really do have extreme taste buds."

What a cheesy statement.

A significant portion of the Mexican population enjoys very spicy food but, for the most part, the rest of Latin America does not. Foods in the Carribean, outside of Jamaican Jerk Chicken, are not typically spicy. Foods in Central America are not spicy. Foods in South America are not spicy.

I think this person's comments are fairly spicy, and a bit too dicey for my taste.

What Frito-Lay should just say is they are marketing Cheetos to Mexicans.

Nothing wrong with that but the last thing the Latino populace needs is another stereotype about our "extreme taste buds."

Adelante,

Ricardo González
